Four Suspects have just been shot dead in Cat Manor by KZN police. The suspects were wanted for murder cases. According to Police General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the gang was from Inanda where they were seeking refuge in Cato Manor as they were on the run.

It is alleged that the four had also recently murdered someone in the same area. The officers managed to track down the criminals with some help from private informants. However the criminals were vigilant because the police approached and were greeted with gunfire.

The shoot out ensued until all four members of the gang were dead. A Media statement from the office provincial commissioner of  the South African Police Service: Kwazulu Natal: The four fugitives who were wanted for several crimes including murder were shot and fatally wounded during a shootout with police in Cato Manor on Thursday evening on March 28 2024. Police officers who are members of the KZN SAPS operationalised intelligence about the location of the fugitives who they have been trying to locate. The suspects were engulfed by the police which cornered them in a room they sought asylum in to avoid capture. The place they were renting was on Standard Road in Cato Crest. WHen Police announced their presence the gunfire began. The police had teflon bullet proof vests so they survived the gunfire. However the suspects died from fatal gunshot wounds.

The suspects were wanted in connection with the murder of a 27 year old man on Molver Road in Cato Crest on the 23rd of March 2024. The policeman who was shot did not sustain any injuries however he will be given psychological support for dealing with a near death experience.

 Social media users are singing praises for the KZN SAPS cheering their efficiency and vigilance. Even though they have their work cut out for them their training seems to be showing when cases like these get resolved.
